WONDER By R.J. PALACIO | Book Review

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2012 GENRE: Children’s Literature PAGE COUNT: 313 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE   ONLINE   : amazon   The bright yellow cover is what attracted me to this book while I was wandering around a bookstore .Yes that’s right...!   I roam around bookstores as I find it extremely therapeutic   ( WEIRD FUN FACT ABOUT ME  😛 ) The synopsis   did not give away much so   I went through the first couple of pages and it instantly grabbed my attention   . I bought the book and finished it in no time. Wonder is a middle grade novel about a boy named August who was born with a rare facial deformity. The story covers his school years especially the fifth grade.   At first, I thought the entire book was told by August’s perspective but I was surprised when I found a change in perspective. Subsequently we saw perspectives of his sister Via and all his school friends. I loved this aspect of storytelling as we get to know everyone’s point o

My experience reading “ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE “by Anthony Doerr

All The Light We Cannot See is a Pulitzer Prize winning novel written by the acclaimed author Anthony Doerr . This is my first time reading literary fiction . When I posted a photo   of my TBR (To Be Read) pile on Bookstagram , a   few people commented that it is the best book they have read. Hence, I was looking forward to it . It was no doubt a beautifully written story that I truly appreciate but   I am not going to lie – It was exhausting. May be I am still not ready venturing into literary fiction. 😐 The story is about a blind French girl named Marie Laure and a German boy Werner Pfennig   whose paths eventually cross during the World War II . Marie lives with her father who has built a miniature Paris city model   so that her blind daughter could find her way home. But when the Nazis invade their city , they had to abandon their home and take refuge . In the meantime, in Germany an orphan named Werner who is skilful, intelligent and has a brilliant mind is forced to

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo BY Taylor Jenkins Reid | BOOK REVIEW

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2017 GENRE: Romance/ LGBT/Historical Fiction FORMAT: eBook AVAILABLE   ONLINE   : amazon A couple of things were going against this book while I was trying to pick it up for reading. First and foremost, it belongs to a genre that I don’t necessarily enjoy. Secondly, it was an eBook format which I find a little difficult to consume. An eBook /kindle   gives me mild headaches and strains my   eyes if I read for longer hours which is why I prefer physical copies . And the third and final issue was that lately I have been going through a reading slump and I blame my last two books which turned out to be pretty average for me. I half-heartedly picked this up to read and I am so glad I did because I absolutely loved it. In fact, while planning my review for this book, I couldn’t find a single flaw.   So this review is going to be me gushing on and on about how much I adored this story. The story chronicles the life of a Super

Strange The Dreamer BY Laini Taylor | Book Review

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2017 GENRE: Fantasy PAGE COUNT: 532 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE   ONLINE   : amazon This book had been in my wish list for so long .This features in the recommended book list of almost all of my favourite book tubers who have been raving about it since it released back in 2017.   It is currently on the news due to the release of the second book in the series “The Muse Of Nightmares” . The premise which revolves around the life of a librarian who dreams of a world that has mysteriously lost its existence seemed fascinating.   Hence I was pretty psyched about   it. Synopsis- The story is about a librarian named Lazlo Strange who is obsessed with the mythical lost city of Weep . He spends most of his time researching and dreaming about this place.   So, One day when a hero called Godslayer from the city of Weep came looking for recruiting people/ warriors who could protect Weep from some unknown threats, he grabbe

I Am The MESSENGER by Markus Zusak | Book Review

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2002 GENRE: Mystery / Thriller PAGE COUNT: 460 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE   ONLINE   : amazon I am the Messenger is written by Markus Zusak who is the author of my all time favourite “ The Book Thief ”. My love for The Book Thief must be evident in various of my previous blog posts . So saying that   “ I had high expectations going into this book ”     is kind of   an understatement. The story revolves around a guy named Ed Kennedy who is a cab driver and   lives a   life which is unremarkable to most people around him . He even considers himself incompetent at times   due to his over achieving siblings and abusive mother. However he   finds solace in his three best friends- Ritchie , Marv and Audrey who are themselves struggling with   self doubt . He spends most of his time playing cards with them   and secretly crushing over Audrey . One day he inadvertently   helped the police in catching a thief who was trying to rob
