My Reading Habits | BookTag

While trying to search for ideas for bookish contents , I came across this tag where book bloggers and   book tubers answer a set of questions related to their reading habits. I had a great time learning the various reading quirks of my fellow bloggers and thought might as well do it myself.   No one has tagged me , I am (shamelessly) going to do it anyway .   😛 And if you want , feel free to do it . I tag everyone. I would love to know your responses . 😊   DO YOU HAVE A CERTAIN PLACE AT HOME FOR READING? My bed. I usually read before going to sleep. I have noticed that reading puts me to sleep . Even when i don’t feel like sleeping , I still prefer my bed with a huge   mountain of pillows. BOOKMARK OR RANDOM PIECE OF PAPER? Bookmark . CAN YOU JUST STOP READING OR DO YOU HAVE TO STOP AFTER A CHAPTER/ A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PAGES? I usually stop after the end of a chapter. It freaks me out to abruptly stop in the middle of a chapter because I fear I would forget a

The Miseducation Of Cameron Post BY Emily M. Danforth | Book Review

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2012 GENRE: Contemporary , LGBT Fiction PAGE COUNT: 470 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE   ONLINE   : amazon “The night Cameron Post’s parents died, her first emotion was relief . Relief they would never know that hours earlier, she’d been kissing a girl.” After reading the above lines from the synopsis of this book, I was totally sold and bought it . But   when it came to actually reading it, I was a bit apprehensive.   To be honest ,it belongs to a   genre that I don't necessarily enjoy . In addition to that, it is a thick dense book with pretty small fonts . After being on my TBR pile for a long time, I finally decided   to pick it up and I am glad I did. The story begins   when Cameron Post is 12 years old and her parents die of an accident. The first instinct when she hears this terrible news is Relief that her parents would never know that she had been kissing a girl lately. With this guilt in her heart, she starts to live with

Book Review - CINDER By Marissa Meyer

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2012 GENRE:  Dystopian  Science Fiction PAGE COUNT: 387 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE  AT : amazon The Lunar Chronicles is one of the most popular book series for Young Adults . It consists of books which are essentially retellings of different Fairy tales like Cinderella, Snow white etc. Cinder is the first book in the series which is a Sci fi retelling and re imagining of Cinderella . I don’t remember reading  Cinderella retellings before, so I was pretty excited to try this out. The story follows the main character Cinder who is a female cyborg working as a professional mechanic in the city of New Beijing. Just like the fairy tale Cinderella, an evil stepmother is the legal guardian who never misses an opportunity to torture Cinder. She treats her like a slave . There is also a handsome and charming Prince Kai who happens to stumble into her life. They live in a place which is constantly facing 2 major threats – a)

BOOK REVIEW - The Collected Works Of AJ Fikry by GABRIELLE ZEVIN

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2013 GENRE:  Fiction PAGE COUNT: 243 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE  ONLINE  : amazon I have not encountered many books which are based on the themes of Reading Books. The only one that  I have come across so far is “ The Book Thief ” by Markus Zusak which happens to be my all time favourite. So I was pleased to have found  this book ” The Collected Works of AJ Fikry “ by Gabrielle Zevin   in one of my local bookstores . The synopsis didn’t reveal much but the front cover is what attracted me to this one. It had a picture of a man and a baby girl reading a book in what looks like a library/bookstore. The blurb in the cover page is given by the author of The Snow Child , Eowyn Ivey and it says , ” Delightful. I read [it] in one sitting “ I  couldn’t agree more . Although I didn’t finish it one sitting ( I could have though) , it was indeed a delightful read. This book is meant for booklovers like me and I am glad I found this gem of

BOOK REVIEW- Children Of Blood And Bone BY Tomi Adeyemi

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2018 GENRE:  Fantasy PAGE COUNT: 525 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE  AT : amazon There is a lot of hype around this book. Everyone from the Book tube community has been gushing about it ever since it released this year. It was an instant bestseller and very soon it is going to be adapted into a movie . When the hype around a book is of this epic proportion, one tends to set extremely high expectations going into it. This leads you to end up either loving it or hating it. I am happy to report that I absolutely loved it . It is an African inspired fantasy story that is based on a land called Orisha where magic has been eradicated by the current monarchy. The people with magical powers were called Maji and after a certain age they tend to acquire certain powers . These powers included being a healer, reaper, burner, the ability to read minds etc. But a decade ago, the ruthless King Saran wiped out magic and killed every maji in a Raid leaving b
