I started reading this book as soon as I finished the first book A Curse So Dark And Lonely( see review here) . The  lovable characters and that incredible cliffhanger at the end had me excited for the sequel.

A Curse So Dark And Lonely -  Beauty and the Beast retelling - YA fantasy following two different angles- Rhen and Harper. Rhen is a prince from the emberfall kingdom who is cursed by an enchantress Lilith . As part of this curse, he has to relive his eighteenth year over and over until a girl truly falls for him.  A girl from Washington,DC named Harper  is accidentally sucked into Rhen’s world by his commander Grey. "

SYNOPSIS- This story starts with Grey fleeing emberfall carrying a secret which could potentially change Rhen’s life . He grows close to an enemy princess Lia Mara and together they work towards a goal that could be fruitful for the people of both their kingdoms. On the other hand, Rhen and Harper are struggling to keep their kingdom together as rumors about a rival heir with magical abilities start to float around.

First of all, I have to point out that the synopsis at the back of the book is a bit misleading. It gives an idea that we are going to follow Harper’s perspectives along with Grey. But that's not the case at all, because we see very little to nothing of Harper in the story. In fact, She came across as one of the side characters just like Rhen.

The main character in this book according to me were – Grey and Lia Mara. Grey was my fave in the first book and he continued to impress me even in this one. I really loved following his arc. The subtle and extremely slow burn romance bits in the story involving him was such a joy to read.

Lia Mara was an interesting addition to this series- I found a strange connection with her because some parts of her personality reminded me of myself . For instance, I have  major self confidence issues which makes me question my self worth time and again. Just like her, I also need some kind of push /motivation from people to realize my full potential and eventually do wonders .

The main leads in the first book – Rhen and Harper were supporting casts in this book. I didn't mind the absence of Rhen’s perspective because I anyways found him extremely annoying and quite honestly he became even more unbearably frustrating in this book . But I definitely missed Harper.

It had a steady pace throughout with enough thrills and twists to keep me hooked. The author has a very good way with the words - it is just so enjoyable. I can't wait for the final book to come out so that I can immerse myself in this world with these spectacular cast of characters.

The only big issue for me was a Question that kept looming over my head while I was reading – Why is Rhen not able to figure out Grey’s secret ? Because literally every other character in the story was somehow able to figure out this "so called secret" by the time we reach the halfway mark. Also, all those ridiculous explanations Grey kept giving for not revealing his true identity to Rhen was plain bullshit and unconvincing.

Because of the above issue, my critical part of the brain didn't want to give this book a full 5/5 rating but I just couldn’t deny how good of a time I had while reading it. So it's a definite winner for me despite that big flaw.

RATING- 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ( 5/5 )

  1. I think after list up so many flaws, you need to change the rating you have given. If words and ratings don't match, then later on either of them could be questioned.

I remember buying the next book in the series The Angel’s Game almost immediately after finishing it. I was so impressed by the writing and plot that I had to read all the books from this author- translator duo. Considering this being a part of series called Cemetery of Forgotten Books , I was under the impression that this book was either a prequel or sequel to The Shadow of the Wind . But after reading a few chapters , I realised that although the story was set in Barcelona and features the infamous Cemetery of Forgotten Books (which was also a

RADIO SILENCE by Alice Oseman | Book Review

There was a booktuber who in one of her   videos started crying while talking about it. I was really taken aback by that. It was really heartening to see how a certain book can bring out such overwhelming emotions . I checked out   a few more reviews- all of which were positive   before buying this one. It was unanimously rated as a 5 star book . Obviously my expectations going into this book were super high. The story is about a girl named Frances who is extremely studious . She calls herself a study machine. Other than academics, the only thing she is obsessed with is a YouTube show UNIVERSE CITY /RADIO SILENCE . CHENNAI BOOK FAIR 2019 | The Books I Bought

In my New Year Resolution tag ( see here ) , I kinda promised myself to finish my TBR pile before going on my next book shopping spree. As expected I managed to break my resolution even before 2 weeks of setting it. The reason – CHENNAI BOOK FAIR 2019 . I went to the book fair yesterday and bought a couple of books.   I know...   I have absolutely no SELF CONTROL whatsoever. But in my defence, these books were available at really cheap prices . Also , might I add this book fair was the best I have ever been to.   I ended up straining my leg muscles due to all the walking around and checking out each and every stall . By the time I reached my house , I had severe headaches and leg pains – but all of this was totally WORTH IT...!! 😊 Following are the books I bought – 1.        The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga – I heard about this book back when I was preparing for my competitive exams . I was memorising the current affairs and that is when I learnt that this book had won
