The Book Of M by Peng Shepherd | BOOK REVIEW

TITLE: The Book Of M AUTHOR: Peng Shepherd PUBLICATION YEAR: 2018 GENRE: Dystopian, Fantasy PAGE COUNT: 485 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE   AT : amazon   Anything with the word “ BOOK ” on the title of a novel is enough to draw my attention . And that’s exactly   what prompted me to pick up “ The Book of M ” by Peng Shepherd .   The story is based on a dystopian world setting where people are losing their shadows and memories. With such a cool concept, I went into it with moderately high expectations. While reading it, I kept on wondering of the consequences us humans have to face if this theory/concept   becomes a reality. How are we possibly   going to survive without our memories? The story is told in 4 different perspectives – Ory , Max , Naz and someone who is referred to as “ The One Who Gathers ”.   These people are living in a world where people are gradually losing their shadows and even...

The BookBlog NEWBIE Tag | BookTag

I have been blogging since July this year, so it is fair to still call me a Newbie of sorts. Hence   –   THE BOOKBLOG NEWBIE TAG. Why did you start this blog? The credit goes to my husband . I have always relied on   journal / diary entries to   put my countless thoughts on paper. One day he happened to come across one of such entries where I was gushing about a book that I recently read. He suggested putting it on the internet . At first , I was a bit hesitant due to various reasons- fear of being judged , trolled and all sorts of negativity . However   he   relentlessly tried   to convince me saying that it would be a great creative outlet for me. So after months and months of hassling , I posted my first blog post in July this year. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging? I am at the learning stage where I discover   new stuff about this blog business practically every day. I shall   come up with ...

Honestly   I went into this novel with middle to low expectations. The reason being-   I read another Pulitzer award winning novel   “ All The Light We Cannot See “ a little while back and could not even manage to finish it as i found it EXHAUSTING ( check out my post my experience reading All The Light We Cannot See ) . Hence I was incredibly surprised at how much enjoyable this book turned out to be. It is about a failed author Andrew Less who is about to turn 50. PUBLICATION YEAR: 2012 GENRE: Children’s Literature PAGE COUNT: 313 FORMAT: Paperback AVAILABLE   ONLINE   : amazon   The bright yellow cover is what attracted me to this book while I was wandering around a bookstore .Yes that’s right...!   I roam around bookstores as I find it extremely therapeutic   ( WEIRD FUN FACT ABOUT ME  😛 ) The synopsis   did not give away much so   I went through the first couple of pages and it instantly grabbed my attention   . My experience reading “ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE “by Anthony Doerr

All The Light We Cannot See is a Pulitzer Prize winning novel written by the acclaimed author Anthony Doerr . This is my first time reading literary fiction . When I posted a photo   of my TBR (To Be Read) pile on Bookstagram , a   few people commented that it is the best book they have read. Hence, I was looking forward to it . It was no doubt a beautifully written story that I truly appreciate but   I am not going to lie – It was exhausting. May be I am still not ready venturing into literary fiction. 😐 The story is about a blind French girl named Marie Laure and a German boy Werner Pfennig   whose paths eventually cross during the World War II . Marie lives with her father who has built a miniature Paris city model   so that her blind daughter could find her way home. But when the Nazis invade their city , they had to abandon their home and take refuge . In the meantime, in Germany an orphan named Werner who is skilful, intelligent and has a bril...

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo BY Taylor Jenkins Reid | BOOK REVIEW

PUBLICATION YEAR: 2017 GENRE: Romance/ LGBT/Historical Fiction FORMAT: eBook AVAILABLE   ONLINE   : amazon A couple of things were going against this book while I was trying to pick it up for reading. First and foremost, it belongs to a genre that I don’t necessarily enjoy. Secondly, it was an eBook format which I find a little difficult to consume. An eBook /kindle   gives me mild headaches and strains my   eyes if I read for longer hours which is why I prefer physical copies . And the third and final issue was that lately I have been going through a reading slump and I blame my last two books which turned out to be pretty average for me. I half-heartedly picked this up to read and I am so glad I did because I absolutely loved it. In fact, while planning my review for this book, I couldn’t find a single flaw.   So this review is going to be me gushing on and on about how much I adored this story. The story chroni...
